BEAUMONT, Texas - Kelli Wilson scored two goals, and the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team dominated Lamar, 3-0, Sunday to collect its third shutout win in four games. The victory improves SFA's record to 9-4-2 overall and a Southland Conference-leading 5-1-1 in league play.
SFA simply overwhelmed the Cardinals, outshooting Lamar, 35-6. The Ladyjacks recorded 13 shots on goal while holding the Cardinals (0-16-0) to three. In the first half, SFA posted just three shots on goal, none of which found their mark, and the teams went to halftime tied at 0. But the Ladyjacks cranked up the offense up after the break.
Wilson broke the tie in the 51st minute, when she hammered home a rebound for the game's first goal and her seventh of the season. The score remained that way until the game's final minutes, when Wilson and fellow sophomore Erika Palmacci put together a two-goal flurry to set the final count.
Wilson's goal came off an assist by Jenna Turner and moved her briefly into the team lead for goals this season. But Palmacci scored unassisted three minutes later to move into a tie with Wilson as SFA's leading scorers.
Sophomore goalkeeper Crystin Pactor recorded three saves in 90 minutes of action to post her fourth shutout of the season.
The Ladyjacks will wrap up their regular-season schedule this weekend when they host Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls State.
