Figgers Named SLC's Defensive Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference has named Stephen F. Austin's Stephanie Figgers its Aeropostale Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 3 announced league officials Tuesday afternoon.
Figgers, the 5-4 native of Katy, Texas, earned the honor after posting 76 digs (6.91 digs per game) in three matches at the Arkansas Invitational last weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. Her 33 digs against Arkansas Saturday was the fifth-best mark in school history, giving Figgers seven of the top 11 marks at SFA. She was also the only Ladyjack to be named to the all-tournament team.
It was the first time this season Figgers has earned the honor.
The Ladyjacks will return to the court this weekend as they play host to the Austin Bank Ladyjack Invitational at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA will face Tennessee State and Baylor at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, before closing out the weekend against Houston and Arkansas State on Saturday.
