
SFA Volleyball Heads to Corpus Christi

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks head to Corpus Christi in search of their sixth straight win and their second conference victory as they face new Southland Conference member, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Saturday afternoon. The match is slated for 2 p.m. from the Moody Fieldhouse.
SFA, who sits with an overall 10-3 record, recorded a 3-1 victory Thursday evening against Texas-San Antonio in their first conference match of the 2006 season. The Islanders are 1-9 on the year and will face Sam Houston State Friday evening to open their league schedule.
For SFA, junior Traci Rohde is pacing the Ladyjacks with her team-leading 3.81 kills per game and .274 hitting percentage. Her 1.43 blocks per game is also tops on the Ladyjack squad. Including last night's match at San Antonio, Rohde has posted a career-high 10 total blocks twice this season.
Senior Stephanie Figgers is leading the conference defensively with 6.45 digs per game and JJ Jones is atop the SLC with her 12.34 assists per game.
After a four-match roadtrip, the Ladyjacks will return home to open their home conference schedule next weekend against two of the top teams in the league in Texas-Arlington and Texas State. UTA will come to town, Friday, Sept. 29, and will face off with SFA at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Ladyjacks will host the Bobcats in a 4 p.m. match. Both matches will be played at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
