
Ladyjack Volleyball Travels to Arkansas

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks are looking to carry the momentum from last weekend's three consecutive wins at the Hilton Albuquerque Tournament into this weekend's Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
SFA hit the ground running last weekend as it won the Hilton Albuquerque Tournament, taking matches from UC-Riverside, Utah State, and tournament host New Mexico. SFA started off with a three-game sweep of UC-Riverside before taking the next two matches with scores of 3-1.
About the Ladyjacks: SFA's 3-0 weekend extends its regular season win streak to 22, dating back to the 2005 season. Junior Traci Rohde averaged 4.18 kills and 1.27 blocks per game. Senior Stephanie Figgers put up 4.36 digs per game while junior JJ Jones dished out 12.55 assists on average.
Against Sacramento State: Friday's match will be the first time the Ladyjacks and Hornets meet on the court.
About Sacramento State: The Hornets compiled a 3-1 record in their opening weekend of play last week. Leading the team are Rose Burke, who posted 12.07 assists per game and Shannon Roland, who knocked down 3.93 kills per game. Kristen Lutes had a 4.93 digs per game average and Lindsay Haupt put up 1.43 blocks per game.
Against Arkansas: SFA will look to catch up to the Lady'backs, who have a 2-0 all-time record over the Ladyjacks, with the last match being a 3-1 loss in 1996.
About Arkansas: The Lady'backs give this weekend's competition its second perfect 3-0 record and its third team with three wins. Ashley Miller is averaging 4.42 digs per game for Arkansas with Denitza Koleva and Jessica Dorrel garnering 3.42 and 3.33 kills per game, respectively.
Against Southeast Missouri: The Redhawks have a 2-0 all-time record over SFA. The last time the teams faced each other on the hardwood, SEMO took a 3-0 win in the 2000 season opener.
About Southeast Missouri: The Redhawks have eight returning players to this season's squad, including senior co-captains Jamie Baumstark and Jessica Koeper. Last season, Baumstark averaged 10.80 assists per game and 2.54 digs per game with Koeper averaging 3.46 digs per game. Brenna Schlader averaged 1.02 blocks per game in 2005.
The Ladyjacks and Hornets will begin their tournament play at noon on Friday, before SFA faces tournament host Arkansas at 7 p.m. The Ladyjacks will close the weekend when they play Southeast Missouri on Saturday at 4 p.m. All matches will be played in Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville, Ark.
