NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will take to the field at Homer Bryce Stadium Saturday morning for its first scrimmage of fall camp. The 'Jacks will run a 70-play scrimmage, which is set to begin at 8:20 a.m.
"We're looking to get in 70 snaps during the scrimmage," said McFarland. "We still have a couple of positions that are up for grabs, but mainly we would like to develop some more depth. This will be a really good opportunity to get the players on the field and see what they can do in game-like situations. We are also going to have a Southland Conference crew down here to officiate things. I'm looking forward to seeing how far along we are in the process."
The scrimmage will have the No. 1 offense squaring off against the No. 1 defense and the No. 2 offense taking on the No. 2 defense. The Lumberjacks will have the rest of the afternoon off and will resume with team meetings on Sunday.
The annual `Meet the 'Jacks' is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Fredonia Hotel. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m., and tickets are $10.
