Soccer Preseason Teams Announced

FRISCO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team placed a league-high three players on the preseason All-Southland Conference first team, announced by league officials Monday. The Ladyjacks, who are favored in preseason polls to repeat as SLC champions, had four selections overall.
Senior Shahin Pabani and sophomores Amanda Alders and Amanda Lackey were named to the first-team squad, while senior Jill Robison earned second-team recognition.
Alders returns after a stellar rookie campaign. She led the conference in goals (15) and points (33) and was named SLC Freshman of the Year. Lackey received second-team All-SLC honors last year, when she finished with seven goals and three assists. Pabani, a first-team all-conference selection in 2004, when she led the league in points and goals per game, saw her 2005 season shortened by injury. She played in only 11 games but scored three goals. Robison was a mainstay in a Ladyjack defense that posted a school- and conference-record 11 shutouts last season.
The Ladyjacks will take the field this weekend in a pair of road exhibition games. SFA will meet Southern Methodist Friday at 7 p.m., then play Texas Christian Saturday at 7 p.m. The Ladyjacks open the 2006 season on Aug. 27, at home against Grambling State.
