
'Jacks Take a Rare Day Off

NACOGDOCHES - After focusing on the passing game in the evening session of their first two-a-day workout of fall practice, the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team took it easy on Sunday. SFA head coach Robert McFarland and his staff took the team to a local church for morning worship service before returning to campus to spend the rest of the afternoon in position meetings.
The 'Jacks return to the practice field Monday for a two-hour workout beginning at 8:25 a.m. SFA will spend the afternoon in position meetings.
Notes: The Lumberjacks will once again be hosting the 'Jacks-n-Sacks at Wal-Mart Saturday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. SFA football players will be on hand to sign autographs, hand out refreshments and assist patrons by carrying their items to their cars.
The 'Jacks' lone fall scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19, at 8:20 a.m. SFA will open the 2006 regular season Thursday, Aug. 31 in Tulsa against the Golden Hurricane. The game against Tulsa is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Skelly Stadium.
The annual `Meet the 'Jacks' is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Fredonia Hotel. Tickets for the event are $10 dollars and can be purchased from any Fredonia Rotary Club member as well as participating local banks. `Meet the 'Jacks' is sponsored by the Fredonia Rotary Club, Fredonia Hotel and Aramark.
