
Lumberjacks Fall in Game Three

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team dropped a 7-3 decision at Tulane Sunday night in the final game of the three-game series. The loss moved SFA to 8-36 (.182) on the season.
The Lumberjacks jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning when junior David Jeans led off the game with a solo home run, marking his first homer in a Lumberjack uniform. But Tulane responded in the bottom half of the inning for two runs to reclaim the lead.
SFA rallied right back in the top of the third by way of the long ball once again. Junior Steven Hill recorded his league-leading 11th home run of the season to give the 'Jacks a 3-2 lead. The Lumberjacks were able to hold the advantage until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Green Wave scored five runs to close out the scoring.
Freshman Erich Lehmann got the start for SFA and went 5.0 strong innings, striking out three batters, but took the loss to fall to 5-2 on the season. Billy Mohl pitched 5.0 innings for Tulane surrendering five hits and three runs and got the victory.
Sophomore Buck Britton finished the game 2-for-4 on the night with a run scored. Hill and Jeans both finished the game 1-for-4 at the plate with a home run. The other two SFA hits were recorded by freshmen Adam Bosley and Zach Gardner.
The Lumberjacks return to action Friday when they travel to San Antonio, Texas to open a three-game series against UTSA. Friday's game begins at 3 p.m.
