
Lumberjacks Fall in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane Green Wave jumped out to a 6-0 lead Friday night and held on to win the first of a three-game series, 9-1, against Stephen F. Austin. The Lumberjacks dropped to 8-34 (.190) on the season, while the Green Wave, who competed in the 2005 College World Series, improved to 25-15 overall.
Junior Steven Hill hit his 10th home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning off Tulane starter Sean Morgan, who pitched a complete game for the victory. The 'Jacks sent freshman Richard Folmer to the mound, but he was unable to get past the third inning.
Freshman Angel Hernandez was strong in relief pitching 5.0 innings and striking out four, while walking only one hitter. Junior David Jeans collected the 'Jacks other hit. He finished the game 1-for-4 at the plate.
SFA returns to action Saturday to face the Green Wave in the second game of the series. Saturday's game begins at noon from Zephyr Stadium.
