NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin's Marcus Clark has been named to the 2005-06 Men's Basketball Academic All-Southland Conference Team. Clark was a first-team selection on the squad, announced Friday by SLC officials.
Clark was named second-team all-conference after leading the Lumberjacks to a 17-12 overall mark and a 9-7 record and fourth-place finish in Southland Conference play. He was second in the league this season in assists, assist-turnover ratio and minutes played and was ranked third in steals.
The academic all-conference selection puts the wraps on a superb career for Clark. By the time he was done this season, Clark had written himself into the SFA career record books in four prominent places. Clark's 454 career assists are the most in school history, and his 1,208 points rank 13th among all-time Lumberjacks. Clark's 81.7-percent accuracy from the free throw stripe ranks fourth in school history, and he played in 112 games as a Lumberjack, which ties him for fourth place on that list.
Clark is a health sciences major from Marshall, Texas with a 3.03 GPA.
