
SFA Wraps up First Day of Dogwood Invite

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin athletes won three events and recorded 12 Top 3 finishes Thursday on the first day of the Dogwood Invitational on Fletcher Garner Track at Homer Bryce Stadium. SFA swept the men's and women's pole vault with Kristina Windham and Mike Ludlow taking gold, and Colleen Lonergan won the women's hammer throw.
Ludlow recorded the top collegiate height of 16-00.75 to win the men's pole vault, and Windham cleared 11-11.75. Laura Mikeska joined Windham on the podium with a third-place height of 11-05.75. On the men's side, Chayden Feist took second with a height of 15-07.00, and Matt Pitts posted a third-place height of 14-07.25. In the hammer throw, Lonergan recorded a winning throw of 153-06. Teammate LaQuisha Houston took second with a throw of 150-01.
Audrey Azu took second place in the triple jump with a mark of 34-10.25. In the men's hammer, Scott Reid took second place with a mark of 161-02. Daniel Williams took third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:32.87. Amber Bagwell and Rodney Joseph each placed third in the 5,000 meters with times of 18:39.56 and 14:47.11, respectively.
The Dogwood Invitational will conclude on Saturday at Homer Bryce Stadium. The action is set to kick off at 10 a.m. with field events. Running events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
