BEAUMONT, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team opened Southland Conference play Tuesday against the Lamar Lady Cardinals and were defeated, 5-2.
Megan Langston and Mary Harrison were the only Ladyjacks to record a victory in the match. Langston, a junior from Abilene, defeated Tanya Roberts, 4-6, 6-4, and 6-2, in No. 4 singles. Shreveport freshman Harrison had a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5-0) win over Kendall Gibbs in No. 6 singles.
The loss forces the Ladyjacks to a 4-5 overall record and 0-1 in SLC play. SFA will host McNeese State on Friday at the SFA Tennis Complex. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
