Lumberjack Golfers Eighth at Bearkat Classic

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team finished eigth in a field of 12 at the Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic this weekend. Senior Brian Grossman finished tied for 14th in the individual standings to lead the Lumberjacks.
Grossman shot a 76 in the tournament's opening round, then carded rounds of 71 and 73 to finish inside the Top 15. Freshman Josh Irving opened with a 79 and shot 73 in each of the last two rounds to finish in a tie for 32nd. Redshirt freshman Johnathan Porter finished tied for 35th after carding rounds of 80, 67 and 79. Senior Jason Landry shot 77, 79 and 74 to finish 50th. Junior James Winkley finished with rounds of 76, 78 and 77, and sophomore Tyler Trichell scored 83, 76 and 74.
The Lumberjacks will return to action Monday, when they host the Crown Classic. The two-day tournament will be held at Lufkin's Crown Colony Country Club.
