Lumberjacks Fall at Arkansas-Little Rock SFA to wrap up series Sunday
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team dropped a heartbreaker at Arkansas-Little Rock, 8-7, Saturday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field. The loss moves SFA's season record to 3-10.
The Lumberjacks were led by junior Clay Britton and freshman Adam Bosley at the plate. Both players drove in two runs. Britton finished the game 2-for-5 with the runs batted in and a run scored. Bosley was 1-for-3 with the two RBI and a run scored.
The `Jacks were to play catch up as they surrendered three runs in the bottom of the first inning. SFA fought back with a run in the second and two in the third inning but Trojans answered back with four runs in their half of the third inning, to lead 7-3. The `Jacks were able to rally to within one run but could never get over the hump against the Trojan's Rob Harmon, who pitched 5.2 innings for the victory.
Freshman Kyle Watson got the start for SFA but surrendered six earned runs in 2.1 innings. Sophomore David Miller was strong in relief for the `Jacks, going 5.1 innings surrendering only four hits and one run. Junior Chris Smith finished the game 1-for-3 at the plate with a an RBI and a couple of runs scored.
The Lumberjacks will conclude their three-game series against the Trojans Sunday at 1 p.m.
