
`Jacks Drop Three-Point Decision in San Antonio

NACOGDOCHES - Freshman Josh Alexander scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball team dropped a heartbreaker at Texas-San Antonio, 71-68, Thursday night. The Lumberjacks are now 13-11 (.541) overall and 6-7 (.462) in Southland Conference play.
The `Jacks had no answer for the UTSA offense which finished the night 28-of-50 (.560) and 7-of-12 (.583) from beyond the three-point arc. UTSA's Andre Owens was one of three Roadrunners to score in double figures. He finished the night with 22 points.
SFA finished the game 25-of-58 (.431) from the floor, but was only 4-of-12 (.333) from beyond the arc. The `Jacks were also hurt by 15 turnovers which UTSA converted into 16 points. The Roadrunners also had a big night from its reserves, as they got 20 points from their bench.
Junior Antuane Miller scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Senior Marcus Clark returned to the lineup after missing the game against Louisiana-Lafayette and finished with six points, five assists and two steals.
The `Jacks return to action Saturday when they host Texas State. The game against the Bobcats is slated to begin at 4 p.m. from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
