
Cory Long Named Academic All-SLC

FRISCO, Texas - Sophomore Cory Long has been named to the 2006 Capital One/Southland Conference Football All-Academic team announced league officials Tuesday afternoon. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to be nominated. Along with earning academic all-conference honors, Long was also one of only 54 athletes named to the Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team.
Long, a 5-9 sophomore from Richardson, Texas, led the Lumberjacks in scoring for the second-straight season. He connected on 13-of-19 (.684) field goal attempts, including a long of 47 yards. Long was also a perfect 23-of-23 on PATs.
A 2005 honorable mention All-Southland Conference selection, Long has scored 128 points during his first two seasons on campus. Long enters his junior season only eight points shy of the school's all-time top-10 scoring list.
