
Ladyjack Volleyball Remains Perfect

NATCHITOCHES, La. - In their final week of regular season play, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks remain perfect after a 3-0 (30-23, 30-19, 30-24) defeat of the Northwestern State Lady Demons Wednesday night. The sweep gives SFA a flawless 15-0 Southland Conference record and a 26-3 overall mark. The Lady Demons fell to 11-15 on the year and 6-10 in SLC action.
Sophomore Shelly Swendig led both squads with 13 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Traci Rohde and Lauren Railey also chipped in with double-digit kills, with 10 and 11, respectively. Railey also collected 14 digs in the match.
Senior Stephanie Figgers led SFA with 24 digs and JJ Jones followed with 16. Jones also had 42 assists. Jami Hill had 12 digs and Cristin Hopkin notched 11. Also on the defensive front, freshman Briana Taylor led both teams with three total blocks, including two solo stops, a career-high.
The Ladyjacks will close out the regular season Saturday afternoon with a 1:00 match against the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears in Conway, Ark., before heading to the Southland Conference Championships as the No. 1 seed next weekend in San Antonio.
