
'Jacks Defeat Nicholls State, 16-13

THIBODAUX, La. - Danny Southall hit Dominique Edison on a 42-yard pass play with 40 seconds on the clock to give SFA a 16-13 win at Nicholls State Saturday afternoon. The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks compiled 307 yards of total offense while holding the Colonels to 280. SFA is 3-7 overall with a 3-2 Southland Conference record.
Southall finished the game 16-of-27 for 182 yards and the one score. He connected with eight different receivers on the afternoon. SFA fell behind 10-0 early in the third quarter, though rallied to score 13 points in the final 15 minutes for the victory. The 'Jacks gained 110 yards on the ground led by Louie Runnels, who had 17 carries for 57 yards.
The Lumberjacks were led defensively by Corey Campbell who had seven unassisted tackles, and Tim Knicky who finished the game with eight tackles, including 4.5 for losses.
SFA returns to the field Thursday in the annual battle for Chief Caddo against Northwestern State. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on Fox Sports Net.
