
SFA Volleyball Sweeps SLC Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - After leading Stephen F. Austin to its 14th and 15th straight victories this past weekend, senior Stephanie Figgers and junior Traci Rohde have been named the Aeropostale Southland Conference Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, announced league officials Monday afternoon. For the second straight week, Rohde has earned the offensive award, and it is the fourth time this season Figgers has been given then defensive award.
In two matches, Figgers averaged 8.14 digs per game after a 31-dig performance at Lamar Saturday. It was the second time this season she had over 30 digs in a three-game match. In the third game alone, the 5-4 Katy, Texas, native posted 15 digs.
Rohde, a 6-2 middle blocker from Norman, Okla., put up 36 kills for a 5.14 kills per game average. She had a match-high 21 kills against McNeese State Friday and had a 15-kill performance at Lamar the following night. In her last four matches, she has yet to hit below the .300 mark, posting attack percentages of .315 against the Cowgirls and .344 at Lamar for a total hitting percentage of .326 for the week.
The Ladyjacks have won 20 games and have suffered only three losses this season. In conference play, SFA remains flawless with a 9-0 record.
Figgers and Rohde will lead the Ladyjacks back onto the court Tuesday in Hunstville as SFA looks to continue its win streak against the Sam Houston State Bearkats. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start from the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum. SFA will then return to Nacogdoches to close out its 2006 home slate against Texas-San Antonio Friday and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday afternoon. Friday's match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and Saturday's Senior Day festivities will begin prior to the 4 p.m. match.
