FRISCO, Texas - Senior libero Stephanie Figgers was named the Aeropostale Southland Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week after her efforts on the court last week, announced league officials Monday afternoon. It is the third time this season Figgers has been awarded the honor.
The 5-4 Katy, Texas, native posted 31 digs in a 3-2 victory at SMU and had 11 digs in a sweep of North Texas. On Saturday, Figgers posted 36 digs in a three-game win over Sam Houston State, averaging 12 digs a game in the match. For the week, she averaged 7.09 digs per game.
The numbers against SMU and the Bearkats landed her once again in SFA's top 10 for digs in a match. The 36 digs are the fourth-best mark and the 31 digs are seventh-best. Figgers now either owns or is tied for every top 10 spot, having sole ownership of the top four.
Figgers and the Ladyjacks will return to the court this weekend to begin interdivision SLC play when they host Nicholls State Friday night at 7 p.m. and Southeastern Louisiana Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
