
Ladyjacks Win Over Nicholls

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks extended their Southland Conference record to 2-0 on Saturday when they defeated the Nicholls State Lady Colonels, 3-1, at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
The Ladyjacks took game one, 30-26, before giving up game two, 26-30. But they came back to win the next two, 30-20 and 30-12. For the match, the Lady Colonels were held to a .045 attack percentage.
Senior Jessica Watson set a season-high with her nine total blocks in the four-game set. She also chipped in nine kills.
For the third consecutive match, freshman Lauren Railey and junior Laura Cramer double-doubles. Railey had 11 digs and a team-leading 14 kills. Cramer had 10 kills and 10 digs in the match.
Stephanie Figgers' 25 digs and JJ Jones' 35 assists led both sides.
Nicholls State, who has seen limited time on the court due to Hurricane Katrina, had only two games under their belt before taking on SFA and fell to 0-3, 0-2 in SLC play.
The Ladyjacks improved their record to 9-2 on the year.
SFA will return to the court to face Texas-San Antonio on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
