Two Ladyjacks Earn SLC Honors

PLANO, Texas - Southland Conference officials released this season's first Aeropostale Soccer Student Athlete of the Week list on Tuesday, and a pair of Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks were among the players selected. Senior goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki was a unanimous selection for goalkeeper of the week, and senior defender Kim Gray shared defensive player of the week honors with Louisiana-Monroe's Nicole Nichols. Northwestern State's Julie Zavala was named offensive player of the week.
Michalezki played all 90 minutes in the Ladyjacks' season-opening two-game road trip to Texas A&M and Baylor. She recorded 15 saves combined, including six in a 1-0 shutout win over Baylor.
Gray also lent a hand in the shutout, as she helped lead a defense that turned away 13 Baylor shots.
The Ladyjacks (1-1) return to action this weekend when they travel to Jonesboro, Ark. for a pair of games. SFA will take on Arkansas-Little Rock at 2 p.m. Friday. Sunday, the Ladyjacks will square off with Arkansas State in a 1:30 p.m. contest.
