NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will look to close out the 2004-05 regular season on a positive note as it host league-leading Louisiana-Monroe tonight in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks enter the game with a 12-14 (.462) overall record and are seventh in the conference standings with a 6-9 (.500) Southland Conference record. The Lady Indians enter the game with a 19-7 (.731) overall record and are tied with Texas-Arlington for the top spot in the Southland Conference with a 12-3 (.800) overall record. The Ladyjacks will be honoring its four seniors prior to the start of the game.
SFA vs. the Lady Indians: The Ladyjacks are 38-13 (.745) all-time against Louisiana-Monroe. The Ladyjacks have won five of the last seven games but the Lady Indians have recorded two of the last three wins in the series. SFA dropped a 79-72 decision at Fant-Ewing Coliseum back in January. The Ladyjacks recorded a 70-51 victory over Louisiana-Monroe last season in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the nation's all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 331-84 (.798). The Ladyjacks have now won 65 of their last 80 games at home and are 8-3 (.727) in the William R. Johnson Coliseum this year.
Senior Night: The Ladyjacks will be saying good-bye to four seniors tonight, as they play their final collegiate home game in the SFA purple and white uniform. The Ladyjacks' class of 2005 consists of Alex Bowman, Zedralyn Butler, Jaliyla Muhammad and Stacey Szymanski. All four have played a significant role for SFA over the past two seasons and all four have been in the SFA starting lineup at some point during this season.
Advancing to Postseason: With Southeastern Louisiana's loss at McNeese State last night, the Ladyjacks locked up a berth in their 18th-straight Southland Conference Championship tournament.
Alex the Great: Senior Alex Bowman continues to be an offensive leader for SFA since the loss of leading scorer and rebounder LaToya Mills. Bowman led SFA with 14 points and 10 rebounds at Texas-San Antonio marking the fifth time in the last seven games that Bowman has scored in double figures. She is averaging 11.1 points per game during that stretch.
Double-Double: Senior Alex Bowman recorded her second career double-double with a 14-point, 10-rebound effort against Texas-San Antonio. Bowman recorded 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Sam Houston State in Nacogdoches to notch her first double-double earlier this season. It is the ninth time this season that a Ladyjack has recorded a double-double.
Just Shy of a Triple-Double: Senior Alex Bowman just missed recording her first career triple-double against Texas-San Antonio when she finished the night with 14 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high seven steals. The seven steals by Bowman are the most by a Ladyjack since Nikki Carr recorded seven last season at Tulsa.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks have advanced to the Southland Conference Championship tournament. The Ladyjacks first-round opponent will be determined by the outcome of tonight's league games, but it will be played Monday night at 7 p.m.
