NACOGDOCHES - Junior libero, Stephanie Figgers, has received honorable mention accolades for the Central Region, announced Bill Kauffman of the AVCA on Wednesday morning. She was the only player from the Southland Conference to receive regional honors.
After leading the league with 584 digs in the regular season, 105 more than second place, Figgers took the libero of the year award for the second straight year. The award has been in existence for only two seasons. Figgers was named player of the week eight of 12 weeks. She is also a three-time All-SLC honoree.
Figgers finished the season with 621 digs, one more than last year's total, to set a new single-season record at SFA. Her 5.59 digs per game average is also the best in school history. This season, she recorded more than 30 digs in a match twice, giving her five of the top 10 records at SFA.
Defensively, Figgers led the Ladyjacks to their second straight SLC title after finishing a perfect 19-0 conference schedule and closing out the season with a 28-3 record.
