Two `Jacks Named to All-Academic Team

PLANO, Texas - Seniors Matt Hoelscher and James Shead were named to the 2005 Academic All-Southland Conference team, Bruce Ludlow, SLC Associate Commissioner for Media Relations, announced Wednesday morning. It marks the third consecutive season that Hoelscher has received the honor, while it is the first honor for Shead.
Hoelscher was a 2005 team co-captain that started all 11 games for the Lumberjacks at center. Hoelscher was the catalyst for an offensive line that produced two all-conference running backs and two All-SLC quarterbacks during his career. Hoelscher was an honorable mention All-SLC selection in 2004 and started 32 games in his four-year career.
Shead was a 2005 team co-captain who started seven games in the Lumberjacks' secondary. Shead finished fourth on the team with 51 tackles, including 25 solo stops, this season. He also picked off a pass and recorded five other pass deflections.
