ARLINGTON, Texas - It has been said that all good things must come to an end, and unfortunately that came true Saturday night for the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team. Texas State ended the Ladyjacks' 21-match win streak, 3-0 (30-22, 33-31, 30-18), in the conference semifinals at Texas Hall.
The Bobcats registered a .287 attack percentage against SFA, one of the best hitting percentages surrendered by the Ladyjacks all season. In fact, it was Texas State that recorded the solid defensive effort posting 66 digs and 20 blocks while holding SFA to a .130 attack percentage.
Southland Conference Player of the Year Laura Cramer led SFA with 11 kills, but she was the only Ladyjack to register double-figure kills in the match. Senior Lauren Stevens and sophomore Traci Rohde each added nine kills but it wasn't enough as Texas State recorded the first shutout victory over SFA this season.
The Bobcats were led by Elizabeth Nwoke's 18 kills. Teammate Lawrencia Brown added 13 kills and 14 digs in the victory.
Junior Stephanie Figgers recorded a match-high 22 digs, while conference setter of the year JJ Jones dished out 42 assists. Rookie Lauren Railey finished the night with eight kills and 11 digs.
The Ladyjacks finish the season with a 28-3 (.903) overall record, after winning their second-straight Southland Conference regular-season title.
