SHREVEPORT, La. - Freshman Amanda Alders broke a scoreless tie in the 77th minute with her team-high 12th goal of the season to give the Ladyjacks a 1-0 victory over Centenary. The Ladyjacks are now 11-3-0 (.786) overall and have won their last eight matches.
The defenses dominated the contest from the start, but the Ladyjacks were dominating the time of possession. SFA outshot the Ladies, 34-10, but the Centenary goalkeeping duo of Ali Hilsher and Sarah Balkey was up to the task blocking every shot to keep the game tied at 0 heading into the intermission.
The game stayed tied until the 76:06 mark when Alders was fed a pass from classmate Summer Bradfield for her 12th goal of the season. The lone goal would be all the offensive help senior goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki would need, as she played all 90 minutes for the shutout victory. Michalezki finished the game with fives.
The Ladyjacks return to Southland Conference action Friday when they host Northwestern State. The game against the Lady Demons is slated to begin at 7 p.m. from the SFA Intramural Complex. SFA is currently atop the Southland Conference standings with a 4-0-0 league record.
