
Ladyjacks Finish Fifth in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack track and field team kicked off the 2005 indoor season Friday night in Houston, Texas at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational. The Ladyjacks scored 51 points to finish fifth overall at the meet.
Senior Ana Rodriguez started her senior season with a strong performance in the mile. Rodriguez finished third overall crossing the finish line with a school record time of 5:00.96. The Ladyjack high-jumping duo of seniors Teresa Murray and Jocelyn Stevens got out to a good start in 2005 as both placed among the top three. Murray finished second overall when she set a school record and recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with her jump of 5-10.50. Stevens finished third when she cleared a height of 5-8.50.
Sophomore Ashley Monteau and Kristina Windham who each won individual titles the Ladyjacks. Monteau won the 5,000 meters with her time of 18:12.14. Windham won the pole vault when she cleared a height of 11-9.75. The Ladyjacks also had two other athletes finish among the top five in those events as Amber Bagwell finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with her time of 18:37.92. Emylee Hartwig was fifth in the pole vault when she cleared a height of 10-10.00.
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday when they travel to Baton Rouge, La., to compete in the Bayou Bengal Invitational.
