PLANO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team swept the Southland Conference Players of the Week awards as senior Sophia Pantazis was named offensive player of the week, junior Kim Gray earned defensive player of the week honors and junior Natascia Michalezki was honored as the top goalkeeper announced league officials Tuesday afternoon.
Pantazis was automatic offense for SFA last week as she finished the week with 10 points (five goals). She netted two goals each in the Ladyjacks victories over Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana. She also helped guide SFA to a victory at McNeese State scoring a goal in that game as well.
Gray led a defensive unit that allowed only two goals in three games as SFA jumped to the top of the SLC standings with a perfect 3-0-0 record. Gray helped direct SFA to a 5-0 shutout over defending SLC regular-season champion Southeastern Louisiana. Gray also made her presence felt on the offensive end netting a goal in the win over the Lady Lions.
Michalezki is continuing to put together a solid junior season. She played 247 of a possible 270 minutes of action in the team's three games, surrendering only one goal and recording two shutout performances. She also carded 11 saves while recording an 0.36 goals against average.
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday when they travel to Monroe, La., to take on the Lady Indians. The game against Louisiana-Monroe is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
