NACOGDOCHES, Texas-- Stephen F. Austin fullback Eric Chapman and linebacker Jeremy Davis have been named to the I-AA.org Preseason All-America team in a release from the organization this week. Chapman, a senior fullback from Fort Worth, and Davis, a senior linebacker from The Colony, were named to the second team units respectively. Chapman has started 28 straight games for the Lumberjacks heading into the 2004 opener, but an injury in the final scrimmage of fall camp has put his season in jeopardy. Chapman was fourth on the team last season with 257 yards rushing and two touchdowns and also finished fourth on the team in receiving with 25 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns. He was a second team All-Southland Conference selection a year ago and is a first team all-conference pick heading into 2004. Davis, a 6-2, 240-pound senior linebacker from The Colony led the team with 117 tackles last season and is also a preseason first team all-conference selection heading into 2004. He was a second team all-conference pick in 2003 when he finished among the conference leaders in tackles per game, averaging 10.6 stops per contest. He recorded a season and career high 20 tackles against Nicholls State. The pair of Lumberjacks join five other Southland Conference student-athletes on the I-AA.org preseason teams. ™
