
Ladyjacks Release 2004-05 Hoops Schedule

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team released its 2004-05 schedule Friday morning, announced head basketball coach Lee Ann Riley. The Ladyjacks 2004-05 schedule will consist of 12 home games and three non-conference tournaments. SFA will face five teams that advanced to the 2004 NCAA Championships. SFA tips off the regular season Friday Nov. 19, at the William R. Johnson Coliseum against Rice. The game against the Owls will be the Ladyjacks lone home game in the first three weeks of the season as the Ladyjacks will travel to the Bahamas to compete in the Junkanoo Jam tournament (Nov. 26-27) and then to Greenville, N.C., for the US Cellular Classic (Dec. 4-5). SFA will face 2004 NCAA Elite Eight team Duke in the first-round of the Junkanoo Jam. The Ladyjacks return to the court the following day to face either Illinois State or Kansas State. The US Cellular Classic will pit SFA against tournament-host East Carolina in the first round. The Ladyjacks will play either Baylor or Jackson State on the final night. SFA will be back in Nacogdoches Friday Dec. 10 to kick off a three-game homestand against Southern. The Ladyjacks will have eight days to prepare for a non-conference match-up against Tulsa on Saturday Dec. 18. Arkansas State will close out the homestand on Tuesday Dec. 21. The Ladyjacks will be in New Orleans, La., Dec. 28-29 for the final of its three non-conference tournaments when they open against Tulane in the first-round of the Tulane/DoubleTree Classic. SFA will square off against either Georgia State or Pepperdine in the second game of the tournament. SFA will close out the non-conference portion of the 2004-05 schedule Sunday Jan. 2, when they face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi. The Ladyjacks will be back in Nacogdoches on Thursday Jan. 6, for the Southland Conference opener against defending league champion Northwestern State. -SFA-
