NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Thunderstorms moving through the east Texas area Thursday afternoon interrrupted practice for a short time for the SFA Lumberjacks, but the team was able to get on the field and continued preparations for Saturday night's scrimmage. The team will conduct a 100-play scrimmage Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in the stadium. The 'Jacks went through a 50-play scrimmage last Saturday night, but this week's scheduled workout will be the first lengthy scrimmage of fall camp. SFA head coach Mike Santiago said that he has been pleased with the development of the defensive secondary to this point and has also been impressed with the play of newcomers in the secondary and at receiver. The 'Jacks open the season Sept. 2 against Henderson State, in Nacogdoches. SFA will open the year ranked 16th in the ESPN/USAToday coaches poll, marking the second straight season SFA has opened the year ranked among the nation's top-25.
