NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball program hired Taqueta Roberson to fill its assistant coach's position announced SFA head coach Lee Ann Riley Friday afternoon. Roberson fills the position vacated by Pennee Hall.
"I'm thrilled to have Taqueta apart of this program," said Riley. "She will be a great addition to this team. Taqueta adds another aspect to our program, having served as an assistant coach in the Southland Conference as well as a high school coach in Texas. She is originally from Louisiana and her ties to that state will really help in recruiting. She is a classy young lady that I'm proud to have apart of the program."
Roberson will serve as the Ladyjacks recruiting coordinator, as well as assist Riley in the day-to-day operations of the Ladyjack program.
Roberson spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Lamar. During her stint in Beaumont, Roberson played an integral role in helping rebuild the Lady Cardinal program.
Roberson spent her college days at Arkansas as a player for former Ladyjack head coach Gary Blair. Roberson was a four-year letterwinner for the Lady Razorbacks guiding them to an NCAA Tournament appearance. As a senior Roberson was selected as the team captain and named to the Southeastern Conference's Academic Honor Roll.
Following her playing career, Roberson became an assistant coach at Mesquite High School for three years. While at Mesquite, she helped guided the Skeeters to a district title.
In addition to Roberson joining the Ladyjack staff, SFA has elevated current coach Krissy Riggs to the second assistant's position. Riggs is entering her second season with the Ladyjacks.
