
Flores and Stevens Named Track MVPs

NACOGDOCHES - Senior Nathan Flores and junior Jocelyn Stevens were named 2004 SFA Men and Women's Track and Field MVPs announced head coach Phil Olson Thursday afternoon. Flores competed in the distance events for SFA, while Stevens was a member of the Ladyjacks' sprints, hurdles and jumps squad.
Flores was a four-time All-Southland Conference athlete in 2004 and helped guide the Lumberjacks to second-place finishes at both the SLC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Flores was named the SLC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year after finishing the meet as the high-point scorer. Flores finishes his SFA career as a 16-time All-SLC athlete, a five-time SLC individual champion, three-time SLC Athlete of the Year and was also named the 2002 SLC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Stevens was a workhorse for the Ladyjacks' track and field team scoring points for SFA in the 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, high jump and as a member of the Ladyjacks 4X400-meter relay team. Stevens was a three-time All-SLC athlete in 2004 and defended her SLC Outdoor title in the 400-meter hurdles while guiding SFA to second-place finishes during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
