
Track & Field Travels to College Station

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team will travel to College Station Saturday to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational. The meet will begin at 11 a.m., with the women's javelin. The track events are scheduled to get underway at 1:30 p.m., with the women's steeplechase.
Ladyjacks in the League Junior Jocelyn Stevens is currently third in the Southland Conference in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.21. Stevens is just .17 hundredths of a second ahead of teammate Leah Matthews in the event. Stevens is currently the league leader in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.41) and the high jump (5-8.00). Sophomore Stevina Wyatt is second in the SLC in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:02.60. Ladyjack senior Vicky Jannise is third in the steeplechase (11:28.60), while freshman Katrina Storrs is fifth (11:31.84). SFA also owns the top two spots in the 5,000 meters with freshman Ashley Monteau's time of 17:33.45 and junior Ana Rodriguez's time of 17:43.39. Junior Teresa Murray is currently tied for first in the SLC in the high jump clearing a height of 5-8.00. Senior Jennifer Schreiner is currently second in the league in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12-3.50. Senior Blake Gordon is currently second in the conference in the discus (162-07). Sophomore Crystal Chang in currently second in the league in the heptathlon (4,936 points) while teammate Lindsey Bryson is fourth with 4,154 points.
Lumberjacks in the League Senior Justin Meier is third in the 1,500 meters with his time of 3:52.49. Sophomore Chance Edwards is just a couple seconds behind Meier for fourth in the league 3:54.67. Senior Mike Thompson leads the league in the steeplechase (9:09.65) and teammate Daniel Williams is currently fifth (9:39.88). Senior Nathan Flores is currently first in the 5,000 meters clocking a time of 14:44.99. The Lumberjacks own the top two times in the 10,000 meters as sophomore Marc Farris has recorded a 31:30.23. Teammate Matt Albertson is second in the 10,000 meters with his time of 31:59.08. Senior Paul Todd is tops in the conference in the high jump, clearing a height of 6-8.75. Sophomore Mike Ludlow is fourth in the SLC in the pole vault with his mark of 15-5.00. Sophomore Kenneth McKinley is fourth in the league in the shot put with his mark of 50-7.25. Freshman Wade Whittington is second in the conference in the javelin (193-06). Senior Justin Connell is fourth in the decathlon (6,720) just ahead of teammate Bo Simpson who has a season-best of 6,370.
