NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- A two-run bottom of the second inning was all that Crissy Autry would need as she shutout Texas State Sunday on two hits to hand Texas State its first Southland Conference loss of the season. SFA (17-20, 7-8) got a solo homerun from Chelsea Lundberg and an RBI single from Nicole Carter to beat Nicole Neuerburg and Texas State (31-9, 14-1), 3-0.
Lundberg delivered with two outs in the bottom of the second inning after Lee Lara had reached on a leadoff single. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and moved to third on a wild pitch. She scored on a single off the bat of Nicole Carter before Lundberg's blast. SFA added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jaime Brown singled to open the inning and scored following a single by Ragen Rutherford.
Autry (11-10) went the distance giving up only two hits while striking out 10. SFA touched up four-time SLC Pitcher of the Week Neuerberg for three runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings of work.
Lee Lara went 2-3 on the day with a pair of singles and also scored a run. Rutherford, Carter and Lundberg each picked up one RBI.
SFA returns to action next weekend at UT-San Antonio.
