NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Texas State Bobcats wasted no time in the second game scoring three runs on five hits in the first inning off starter Nicole Carter (3-8). The Bobcats held the 2-0 lead into the top of the fourth inning, then chased Carter from the game with a five run fourth inning to break the game open. Carter left after pitching 3.2 innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits. Six of the runs were earned. Traci Moore came on in relief and worked 1.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits and picking up one strikeout.
Trailing 10-0, SFA got a one out single from Carter to start a two-run rally. Following Carter's single, catcher Sarah Stone singled to advance pinch runner Brooke Chandler to second. Chandler later stole third and scored on a two-out single off the bat of Jaime Brown. The game ended when Ragen Rutherford singled to right-center and was caught in a rundown between first and second bases. While she was in the rundown, Crystal Dahlquist tried to score, but was tagged out at the plate.
The series conclude with a single game Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
