NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team dropped a double-header to Texas A&M Sunday afternoon at the Coy Simms Softball Complex. Texas A&M won the first game, 2-0, and followed that up with a 5-0 victory in the second game. The Ladyjacks are now 0-5 on the season.
SFA's Crissy Autry went seven innings in the first game surrendering six hits and only two but took the loss as the Ladyjacks could only muster four hits against the 17th-ranked Aggies. The Ladyjacks had their best scoring opportunity in the third inning with two on and one out but couldn't produce a run.
The Ladyjacks' Carrie Woydziak finished the game going 2-for-3, while teammates Lee Lara and Tara Hersey each recorded a hit.
The second game of the doubleheader was a defensive struggle early as neither team could push across a run in the first four innings. But Texas A&M exploded for three runs in the fifth on an Adrian Gregory homerun. The three runs would be all the Aggies needed as they held SFA scoreless for the second-straight game.
Woydziak and Lara recorded the only Ladyjack hits in the second game.
SFA returns to action Wednesday Feb. 18th, when they host Texas Southern in a doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
