
Softball Sweeps Doubleheader From Texas Southern

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The SFA softball team moved to 2-5 on the year Wednesday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep of Texas Southern at the Coy Simms Softball Complex. SFA won game one by a 7-1 final and blew away the Lady Tigers, 25-0 in game two.
Traci Moore (1-2) picked up the win in game one, working three innings and allowing two hits while walking one and striking out three. Nichole Carter came on in relief and worked the final four innings allowing one run on two hits. She did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
Crista Hargrove and Lee Lara had two hits apiece in game one and each had one RBI. Lara also scored a run. Carrie Woydziak was also 1-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. SFA pounded out 10 hits in game one.
Game two was all SFA as the 'Jacks scored a run in the first inning, then added nine runs in the second and 10 runs in the third inning on their way to a 25-0 rout. SFA collected 29 hits in the nightcap with Carrie Woydziak going 5-5 with six RBI and four runs scored. Woydziak had three doubles in the game. Five different Ladyjacks had at least thre RBI in the game. Woydziak had six, Ashley Schlegel added four and Crista Hargrove, Ragen Rutherford, Lee Lara and Danielle Branch had three RBI each.
Hargrove was 1-2 in the game with a home run, the first long ball of the season for the 'Jacks.
SFA returns to action this weekend at the UL-Lafayette tournament, in Lafayette, La.
