
Track and Field Finish Second at SLCs

The Ladyjacks were led by 11 athletes who earned All-Southland Conference honors. Junior Ana Rodriguez earned all-conference honors in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs along with teammate Ashley Monteau. Rodriguez finished third in the 3,000 meters with her time of 10:12.66. Monteau edged out Rodriguez, in the race recording a time of 10:11.46 to finish second. The two runners switched places in the 5,000 meters as Rodriguez set a school record with her time of 17:30.86 to finish second. Monteau finished third (17:31.40). Sophomore Stevina Wyatt recorded a time of 56.42 in the 400-meter dash to finish third. Freshman Leah Matthews finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with her school-record time of 8.63. Junior Jocelyn Stevens was only 11-hundredths of a second off Matthews' time, finishing third. Matthews also set a school record in the 60-meter dash with her time of 7.70. Senior Jennifer Schreiner cleared a height of 11-11.75 in the pole vault to finish second. The Ladyjacks distance medley relay team of freshman Katrina Storrs, sophomore Crystal Chang and junior Melody Tillman and Jessica Partin recorded a school-record time of 12:30.79 to finish sixth.
The Lumberjacks won another individual title and added nine All-SLC athletes on the final day of competition. The Lumberjacks' distance medley relay team of Justin Meier, Alex Beckworth, Chance Edwards and Mike Thompson set a school record with their time of 10:08.65 to win the race. Thompson also earned all-conference honors in the mile, finishing second with time of 4:13.54, while Beckworth earned All-SLC honors in the 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.08 to finish second. Senior Nathan Flores finished second in the 5,000 meters with his time of 14:53.38. Senior DeVaughn Rettig finished second and set a school record in the triple jump recording a mark of 50-9.25. Freshman James Williams earned all-league honors in the shot put with his toss of 54-3.75.
