
'Jacks Even Record With Win

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- SFA followed a 10-day layoff for the Christmas holidays with an 84-46 win over Howard Payne University Thursday night to move its record to 5-5 on the year. It marks the first time this season the Lumberjacks have been able to move back to the .500 mark and also extends the 'Jacks current win streak to three straight.
Marcus Clark tied his career high with a 25-point night against the Yellowjackets. Clark had 19 in the first half and played sparingly in the second half of play. The Marshall, Texas junior finished the night 11-15 from the field and was 3-3 at the foul line with three assists in 23 minutes of action. He has scored in double figures in three straight games for the Lumberjacks.
Josh Porter also broke out of a scoring slump with 21 points on eight of 13 shooting. Porter was also 5-6 on three point attempts for the game. Rodrigo Segantim added nine points off the bench and also pulled down seven boards. Hank Rivers returned to the lineup after missing three straight games with an injury and led the 'Jacks with a game high 11 rebounds.
The Lumberjacks led from wire-to-wire after building a 29-point lead at the half.
The 'Jacks ended the night shooting .493 (35-71) from the field and were 7-12 (.583) from beyond the three point arc. SFA was 7-11 at the free throw line.
Howard Payne managed to shoot only .302 (16-53) from the field and was only 4-19 (.211) on three pointers for the game. SFA outrebounded the Yellowjackets 47-29 and forced 25 Howard Payne turnovers, 17 of which came in the first half of play.
The Lumberjacks play their third straight at home Monday night when they host Houston Baptist at 7:00 p.m.
