
Hoelscher Named To NACDA Academic All-Star Team

Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack center Matt Hoelscher was named to the seventh annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team in an announcment made over the weekend at the I-AA National Championship Game in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Hoelscher, a two-time academic all-conference and Region VI CoSIDA Academic All-American, was among 36 student-atheltes from across the nation named to the team. Each of the 86 nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
Hoelscher played in all 11 games for the 'Jacks this past season, making 10 starts. He was named to the Hibernia Bank/Southland Conference Academic All-Conference team earller this month. He was also a preseason All-Conference selection and earned honorable mention all-conference honors following the season.
The College Station, Texas junior was the only student-athlete from the Southland Conference named to the team.
SFA athletics director Steve McCarty served as the chair of the NACDA selection committee.
