Three Ladyjacks Named Academic All-SLC

PLANO, Texas - Senior Brittany Burton and juniors Amelia Mayeaux and Lauren Stevens were named to the 2004 Hibernia Bank Academic All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Tuesday afternoon. Burton and Stevens earned first-team recognition, while Mayeaux was named a third-team honoree.
The athletes had to be a starter or important reserve on the court while achieving and maintaining a 3.0 grade-point average in the classroom.
Burton finished her senior season by leading the team in kills, attack percentage, blocks and points. She earned first-team All-Southland Conference honors for a second consecutive season. She was also named league player of the year in 2004.
Stevens finished her junior season among the team leaders in kills and points, while helping guide the team to a share of the 2004 Southland Conference regular-season title. She is also a 2004 Academic All-District second-team selection.
Mayeaux was a third-team selection that finished the season among the team leaders in kills, blocks and points.
All three athletes have received multiple AVCA National Team Academic Awards with the Ladyjack volleyball team.
