PLANO, Texas - Senior middle blocker Brittany Burton was named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week announced league officials Monday afternoon. It is the third time this season that a Ladyjack has received the award and the fifth time in Burton's career that she received the honor.
Burton helped guide the Ladyjacks to victories over Louisiana-Monroe, Texas-Arlington and Sam Houston State as she averaged 4.8 kills per game, a .438 attack percentage and 1.2 blocks per game. Burton has been a key figure in the Ladyjacks' 14-match win streak, which has placed SFA in a two-way tie for first-place in the conference.
The Ladyjacks will look to wrap up a share of the SLC title this week as they play their final three matches of the regular season. SFA returns to action Tuesday night when they travel to Natchitoches, La., for a 7 p.m., match against Northwestern State.
