
Northwestern State Edges Out Jacks 64-63

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - Byron Allen sank two foul shots with 3.5 seconds left Thursday night to lift Northwestern State to a 64-63 victory over Stephen F. Austin in the Southland Conference basketball opener for both teams.
The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Lumberjacks (9-3).
Northwestern (3-8) won for the first time in four games, with two of those losses coming by a combined five points.
Allen scored a season-high 12 points, making 6-of-8 free throws, for Northwestern. The Demons got 18 points from Jermaine Wallace and 14 from Clifton Lee.
Antonio Burks led Stephen F. Austin with 25 points and was 6-of-10 from 3-point range, including a 22-footer with 25 seconds left that put the Lumberjacks ahead 63-62 before Allen was fouled.
