
Ladyjack Basketball Adds a Transfer

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team added Cortney Matthewis to its roster announced SFA head coach Lee Ann Riley Thursday morning. Matthewis will have four years of eligibility with the Ladyjacks beginning midway through the 2004-05 season.
The 5-11 Matthewis transfers to SFA from Nebraska after a highly touted prep career where she averaged 23 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals for Houston's Westside High School. Matthewis shot 53 percent from the floor and was named the 2003 Region 18-5A Player of the Year and a second-team all-state selection. She also gives the Ladyjacks another option from beyond the three-point arc as she connecting on 39 percent of her three-point attempts in high school.
The Ladyjacks are currently 1-12 (.077) on the season and 1-2 (.333) in Southland Conference play. SFA will face Louisiana-Monroe Thursday night. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m., from Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
