NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team is looking to make it two victories in a row, after their thrilling come-from-behind win over Lamar last Saturday. The Ladyjacks will host Nicholls State Friday at 7 p.m. SFA will return to the court Saturday for a 4 p.m., showdown with Southeastern Louisiana. Both matches will be played in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Great Britt: Junior Brittany Burton was almost unstoppable in the Ladyjacks victory over Lamar. She finished the night with a career-high 26 kills, breaking the old mark of 22 she set earlier this season against Louisiana-Lafayette. Burton also recorded a .575 attack percentage against the Lady Cardinals. The 26 kills are the most by a Ladyjack since Jennifer Wilson recorded 27 in a victory over Northeastern in 2002. Burton's .575 attack percentage is her best single-match effort since she recorded a .632 performance against Louisiana-Monroe last season.
It Figgers: Freshman libero Stephanie Figgers set a career-high with 25 digs in the Ladyjacks 3-2 win over Lamar. The 25 digs were the most by a Ladyjack since senior Julie Goodson posted 32 in the Ladyjacks SLC semifinal victory over Southeastern Louisiana last season.
License to Kill: The Ladyjacks recorded a .332 team attack percentage in the victory over the Lady Cardinals. It is the first time the Ladyjacks had recorded an attack percentage over .300 since last season when SFA knocked-off Texas-Arlington. The .332 attack percentage is the highest by an SFA team since the Ladyjacks recorded a .412 mark against Louisiana-Monroe last season.
The La-La Sisterhood: A trio of Ladyjacks had monster nights against Lamar. Sophomore Lauren Stevens recorded a career-high 19 kills. Freshman Laura Cramer tied a career-high with her 15-kill performance, while classmate Lauren Adams recorded a career-high 68 assists.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks open a three-match road swing Thursday, Oct. 2nd, when they travel to San Marcos, Texas to take on Texas State. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., at Strahan Coliseum. SFA will be in San Antonio, Texas Saturday Oct. 4th, for a 2 p.m., match against the Roadrunners.
