Southland Conference football fans will get a sneak peek at the upcoming gridiron season, when Fox Sports Net Southwest will feature the 2003 Southland Conference Football Preview during the Sept. 2 edition of its nightly news program, Southwest Sports Tonight.
The 30-minute program will air at 6:30 p.m. Central and will be co-hosted by Kevin Eschenfelder and Randy McIlvoy and feature interviews and highlights from all six Southland football programs. The 40th season of Southland football kicks off this week, and promises to be one of the most exciting ever as four of the six teams are ranked among the nations top 25, including preseason No. 1 McNeese State. The Southland preview show is a prelude to the leagues largest television schedule ever, consisting of a total of 16 football regional and national regular season telecasts on Fox Sports Net Southwest, College Sports Television, and The Football Network.
This is a great opportunity for Southland Conference fans to get a head start on the upcoming season, league commissioner Tom Burnett said. We are excited to promote our football programs and our student-athletes in this manner, and hope to have more of these type of programs telecast in the future.
The Southland and Fox Sports Net Southwest are teaming up for the eighth consecutive year to televise a total of seven games from league's schedule. Included are five Thursday night broadcasts and three contests which will air in multiple Fox markets, including the most anticipated matchup of the season in I-AA football, No. 2 Georgia Southern at top-ranked McNeese State on Sept. 13.
Each Fox Sports Net Southwest game will be broadcast into more than seven million cable television households throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and parts of New Mexico.
