NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Lumberjack head coach Mike Santiago was not as pleased with day two of practice Thursday afternoon, as he was following the opening practice Wednesday.
"We weren't as sharp today as we were yesterday. There didn't seem to be quite as much excitement today as there was Wednesday afternoon. I think that is due in part to the fact that we have thrown so much new material at the newcomers in a short period," said Santiago.
The fifth year head coach challenged his team to get better with each practice and not be satisfied with their level of play. SFA will practice again Friday afternoon in shorts and helmets and will practice in full pads for the first time Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
The 'Jacks open the season on the road at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, Sept. 6. The home opener for the 2003 Lumberjacks will not take place until week three of the season when they host Northern Iowa in a regionally televised Thursday night game, Sept. 18. The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports Net.
