
Junior Blake Gordon Finishes Eighth in the Shot

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Stephen F. Austin track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition at the NCAA Midwest Regional Friday evening. The Ladyjacks recorded a top-eight finish and advanced one athlete to Saturday's finals.
Junior Blake Gordon had a solid day in the shot put finishing, scoring one point in the team standings, and finishing eighth overall with her throw of 49-01.00. Sophomore Jocelyn Stevens recorded the eighth-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.12) to advance to Saturday's finals. Sophomore Shametra Boykins finished 11th in the long jump with her school-record mark of 20-01.00, while senior Jessica Claiborne finished 19th in the event with a jump of 18-09.75. Claiborne also recorded a time of 23.98 in the 200-meter dash preliminaries but did not advance to the finals.
SFA returns to action Saturday with the men's javelin beginning at 10 a.m. The track events will get underway at 6 p.m.
